Certified instrumental music teacher 4th-12th grade

The Pavilion Central School District is seeking an instrumental music teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Pavilion Central School (PCS) faculty and staff work in a small, rural, family-like setting that is located less than an hour away from either Rochester or Buffalo, which makes PCS not only A Great Place to Learn, but also A Great Place to Work!!

Job Description

• Implement an instrumental music program in two buildings for grades 4th-12th
• Provide music lessons individually or in small groups to develop excellence in instrumental knowledge, skill and performance
• Direct instrumental performers, such as marching band, concert band, soloists, and ensembles
• Provide for band participation in extracurricular events, including concerts, musicals, pep rallies, parades, etc.
• Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify student eligibility
• Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, inventorying, and storing all equipment, supplies, and musical instruments
• Be a champion for the instrumental program and actively recruit and retain student enrollment
• Stay current in research-based instructional practices, pedagogy and NYS standards
• Be actively involved in local, regional and NYS organizations supporting student participation in concerts and festivals
• Maintain and enhance regular collaboration with department members to advance programming in the fine arts department

Qualifications:

NYS Certification in Instrumental Music Education required-provisional or permanent
